英作文練習：否定 (2)

1. 今日は学校の創立記念日で授業がありません。

＜訳例＞
Today is the anniversary of the founding of our school, so there are [we have] no classes.

2. いちばん安い品物がいちばん徳用というわけではない。
＜参照文＞
This is much more economical.
（こちらの方がずっとお徳用です）- LPEJD

＜訳例＞
The cheapest article is not always the most economical.
◎＜not always＞「いつも[必ずしも]…とは限らない」（部分否定）

3. 百歳まで生きられる人はほとんどいない。

＜訳例＞
Few [Not many] people can live to (be) 100 [to the age of 100].

4. 一度しか会ったことがなかったので彼を見てもほとんどわからなかった。
＜参照文＞
I recognized her at a glance.
（人目で彼女だとわかった）- LPJED

＜訳例＞
I hardly recognized him because we had met only once.

5. 父はふだんバスで通勤していて、歩いて行くことはめったにない。

＜訳例＞
My father usually takes the bus to work and hardly ever walks.
◎「めったに…ない」は hardly ever, almost never で表すこともできます。
